TV commercial for Spar supermarkets in Germany.
The production required some top-side shooting, this was done by D.O.P. Duli Diesmannsberger and some underwater shooting, that was done by us.
Both Duli, the DOP, and Marc the director are certified divers and had considered taking on the underwater scenes themselves but after reviewing our show reel asked us along on the underwater location scouting and to shoot some set-ups as a try-out.
…and the ‘underwater tripod’…
At our preliminary meeting we were asked to bring along our underwater tripod as they were impressed by the steadiness of the shots in the show reel. They were delighted and intrigued when we explained that none of our clips had been shot using any steadying equipment, just a steady hand and good diving buoyancy control.
Following the success of our location scout we got the job for the production shoot and filmed lots of swim-bys of SCUBA divers and close-ups of the star; Mirjam Weichselbraun.
